Epigraphs In The Time of Aids : For Deep Listening Band and Long String Instrument.

Commissioned by the Deep Listening Band. This edition consists of a graphic score with textual instructions. The music was created in two week-long workshops. The score is a mnemonic for the orally transmitted instructions. The players improvise according to guidelines. The score indicates that the music is for Long String Instrument, accordion, horn, conches, trombone, didjeridu, overtone flutes, and Expanded Instrument System. The Long String Instrument was invented by Ellen Fullman, and consists of 176 strings spread over 85 feet. The Expanded Instrument System is an electronic sound processing environment.
