Piano Piece I was composed for the 40th anniversary of the Free Akademy of the Arts in Hamburg and was premiered there by the composer in June 1990; Piano Pieces II and III were composed for Alfons Karl Zwicker and the "Contrapunkt" in St. Gallen and premiered by the composer in April 1993.
