Frank Campo

 

Frank Campo, born 1927 in New York City, is the son of and father of a musician. He began the study of clarinet at 8 and by age 13 was working as a professional musician. His main interest soon became composition which he studied with Ingolf Dahl in Los Angeles, with Arthur Honegger in Paris and Goffredo Petrassi in Rome as a Fulbright scholar. Among his many works is an opera, a great deal of orchestra music including six concertos for various instruments, works for wind orchestra, several song cycles, much piano music and a wide variety of chamber music for diverse ensembles. He taught music composition and theory at several universities including California State University Northridge and The Claremont Graduate University.
