Commissioned by The Schubert Club in St. Paul, Minnesota and premiered there in 1986 by Janet Horvath and Arthur Rowe. The juba is a lively dance originating in the culture of African Americans. The cellist plays the role of the dancer and the piano plays the role of an on-looker. Duration: ca. 8 minutes.
