This is the first edition of this work, which is found in a late 18th-century manuscript of cello sonatas by various composers held in the church of Santa Maria del Pi in Barcelona. Another of the sonatas in this manuscript is definitely by Boccherini, and he may have composed this sonata as well as some of the others in the collection. This volume includes a facsimile of the original manuscript. The engraved edition does not include a realization of the continuo.
