The works is in six movements, inspired by poems from Edward Dorn's "Recollec- tions of Gran Apacheria" on Southwestern subjects. The first movement is a phasing study dedicated to Conlon Nancarrow and Steve Reich; subsequent move- ments suggest the influence of Native American ritual music.
