Commissioned for Carol Wincenc in honor of her Ruby Anniversary by Backshore Artists, Inc., and funded by a generous grant from Linda and Stuart Nelson. Premiered in New York, November 2009, by Carol Wincenc and the composer. Inspired by the poem Sunrise, by Mary Oliver. Also available in a version for flute and orchestra.
