The first edition of this work was issued in 1802 by Clementi, simultaneously in a version for piano trio. The Sinfonia was played at the third of the Professional Concerts in 1792, who was attended, among others, by Haydn and Salomon. Haydn was then persuaded by Salomon to write a similar composition.
